Gear levers are used to operate suitable window fittings and enable the window to be opened, closed, and adjusted. They are used in side-hung, tilt, and tilt-and-turn windows, among others, and must be selected to match the existing hardware.

A gear lever actuates the corresponding locking elements via the window fitting. Depending on the position of the lever, the window can be opened, tilted, or closed – depending on the respective window system and fitting.
When replacing an existing gear lever, an exact match with the existing fitting is therefore required.
